我家有一种奇怪的植物，它的名字叫仙人掌。你知道仙人掌的名字是怎么来的吗？告诉你吧：因为它的外形很像人的手掌，所以人们就叫它仙人掌！

仙人掌刚长出来的时候是绿色的，身上长满了许多小刺，那些刺摸起来很柔软，一阵微风吹过，仙人掌的刺就随着风一起舞蹈，好看极了！

过了一段时间，仙人掌就变成了翠绿色，那绿色让人看起来是那般的耀眼，那般的舒服，那么的新鲜。它身上原来柔软的小刺也变得发硬，就像一颗颗钢针。又过了一段时间，它身上又长出了一个花骨朵。慢慢地，越来越大，很后开出了一个红色的大红花，看起来真是漂亮极了！听外婆说，能看到仙人掌开花，可不是件容易的事，因为仙人掌好多年才开一次花。

仙人掌的外形并不怎么漂亮，可它身上的每一块可都是宝呢！
